Abigail Anani is the Executive Director for OYE Foundation, a non-governmental organization with a mission to improve the lives of children living in underprivileged communities. She spends most of her days running the activities of the organization.
We had a chat with Abigail to find out about her experience as a mentor in the Ahaspora Changing Mindsets Mentoring Program.
What inspired you to give back through the Ahaspora mentoring program?
I was inspired to give back by the challenges I went through growing up in a rural community without anyone to look up to for guidance. I want the current generation of young people to receive the right guidance.
Is this your first time mentoring with Ahaspora?
Yes, this is my first time.
What has been your experience so far as a mentor?
I have loved every aspect of it so far. The experience is awesome.
What has been your most memorable moment with your mentee?
Attending a seminar together where we both learnt a lot.
What would you say to aspiring mentors?
Mentoring is a great experience. They should go for it.
Would you recommend this program to aspiring mentors? Why?
Yes, I would recommend it to others. This is because it enables one to remain focused and become more responsible knowing that someone else is looking up to him/ her.
